The Intelligent Power Series will appeal to bassists
who want an amplification setup to be as accurate and sonically neutral as possible.
Think of how your bass sounds through a very high end PA system or studio monitors; that's the IP Series.
The IP 112ER is self-powered and features a highly efficient, 1000
watt Class AD amplifier coupled to a DSP (Digital Signal Processor).
Jim Bergantino performed very precise measurements on the speaker which allowed
him to customize and optimize the power module for each powered speaker.
We did an A/B test with both a self-powered
and an unpowered version of the same models. Using amp heads that we sell
and consider extremely high quality, the listening test was done. First
listening to the amp head / unpowered setup, and then over to the self-powered
setup. Nothing was touched other than unplugging the bass from the input
of the first setup, and then plugging it into the other setup. The traditional setup was
very good but the IP setup is the next level. Great system.
What's not
to love? Amp and cabinet all in one, you only need a small mixer, or
stomp box preamp to control the signal level. You could get away without
EQing at all but you might want to just for taste.
Now we're not saying everyone should buy one of these. Some of you may
prefer the tradition of an amp head and cabinet. Some of you may own
several cabinets and use whichever depending on your gig. Or to create
your sound. However for those that want the ultimate in an accurate speaker
amp system like a studio monitor; this is it.
